The news about this site is Marley herself and our story.
Marley just stopped walking at age 3 months. I rushed her to the Vet and they gave her several shots and prescriptions but did not know what was wrong with her hind legs. She only had mobility in her front legs.
The Vet ordered her back in a week. Marley still could not walk. Meanwhile, I bought Pampers for her and had to change them as needed. The Vet wanted to order more test but they were expensive. And after spending over $400.00 for the first two visits I could not afford anymore. So I knew that Marley and I would have to struggle through this together.
I started researching online. I ran across the story of another pet owner who experienced the same thing with her dog. She said that she carried her pet around the house and exercised her legs and after about 3 months, her dog began to walk again but not as well as it should, but was at least able to get around.
I thought to myself I will do this for Marley. So everyday when I came home from work, I would immediately change her diaper and bathe her. Then I would put Witch Hazel and Alcohol on her hind legs and hips. I had to put some of my socks over her feet because she wanted to lick it. Then I would pump her hind legs gently about 4-5 times. The alcohol had 12 Bayer aspirin in the bottle. (An old Family recipe for pain and fever)
Marley was otherwise completely healthy. She could scoot using her front legs so she would play with her toys and eat well. I also remembered how good pure Aloe Vera Juice was for the human body. So every Saturday, I would put a little in her water. Meanwhile, I am still changing diapers. :-)
This went on for 7 weeks and the eve of Thanksgiving 2009, Marley stood up shakingly in her bed sniffing in the air at the Sweet Potato Pie I was eating. So I coached her to come and get some. And you guessed it. She got up, began walking and has been walking every since. As you can see from her pictures Marley fought a hard fight, and I gave love to this dog like no other to help pull her through.
There are many other pet owners who have and will experience a Medical crisis with their loved pet, and was not able to afford and will not be able to afford the high cost of Medical care. If I could have afforded the Medical cost, there is a possibility that Marley would not have had to suffer for 7 long weeks. This site is dedicated to helping pet owners in the state who cannot afford medical care for their beloved pets. We need Vets to offer PRO BONO SERVICES. We need Companies and Corporations to donate.So, if you can spare anything at all, please contribute to Marley's Cause so she can help other pet parents be able to take care of them when they need emergency Medical care.
